We’re really looking forward to kicking off the tour next week at Notes in Newtown, Sydney. You can now buy tickets for The Notes show and many of our other dates from this
website on the shows page. In the meantime we’ve been busying ourselves with making another video – to the left is a still of Shaun from the ‘Nothing ‘ shoot…
This winter The Wildes are on the road! To celebrate the release of our new Sue-Ellen radio Edit and its accompanying video (stay tuned!) we are covering some serious miles to bring our show to big towns and small, up and down the Eastern side of Australia. For details of when we’re playing near you visit our SHOWS page. Tickets go on sale very soon!
Sean Genders’ 20-odd minute film The Edge of Reality is opening the Dungog Film festival in NSW on May 27th – and playing at The St Kilda Film Festival the weekend following. The Wildes have contributed much of the soundtrack. If you can get to either location make sure you check it out. Stars John Jarratt (Wolf Creek) and Dan Wyllie.
Throughout the month of June we will be doing something a little unusual – a front bar residency on Friday afternoons from 6pm at The Builders Arms in Fitzroy, Melbourne. The gigs will be a little different from normal Wildes shows – we’ll be “unplugged” and playing with all sorts of different acoustic instruments – and we’ll even have a guest or two including The Basics’ frontman Kris Schroeder and Queensland songstress Chloe Tully. To cut a long story short we have a whole bunch of new songs and want to try them out in front of an audience – we might even write a few new ones on the spot. So, if you’re in Melbourne, come down and be part of the process…
The Wildes will be appearing on the FRIDAY EVENING (the 28th of May) at The Gum Ball Festival this year. We’ll be hitting the stage at 9pm. Tickets for the two days of the festival are $95 and can be purchased from here. Other acts on the bill include Abbie Cardwell, The Basics and Tijuana Cartel.
Our video clip for the song Ballad of a Young Married Man has been nominated for an Inside Film Award for best music video. The clip was directed by Sean Genders and starred Ami Sharpe and ourselves. We’d love you to vote for the clip, and you can do so by clicking here
Our video for Ballad of a Young Married Man (which you can watch above) has been included in EMI’s The Winners 2010 – a collection of videos from “the cream of Australian country music”. You can pick up a copy from your local retailer.
The Wildes are headed to Alice Springs in April for the Leading Edge music conference, along with acts such as Washington, Sara Storer, Catherine Britt, Katie Noonan and The Snowdroppers. We’ve never been to the NT before so we’re looking forward to it very much. We’ve also got shows happening on the south coast of Victoria at the end of April, and Melbourne and Queensland shows in May and June.
