Wildes frontman signs to Core Music

Core Music is proud to announce its newest signing – Melbourne singer songwriter Lachlan Bryan. Lachlan is best known as the frontman of alt-country darlings The Wildes. He crafts songs with an authenticity rarely heard in Australian country music circles and scarcely matched in more fashionable genres. He’s an old soul.

He follows in the tradition of those whom he describes as ‘the real guys’ – the Steve Earles, Townes van Zandts and Lyle Lovett’s of this world. His songs have characters, back-stories, sometimes even plots. His records have body counts. Lachlan’s protagonists are neck-deep in (and out) of love. They’re lovers, sinners, criminals, religious zealots.

In the past three years Lachlan has released a critically acclaimed album with The Wildes, written a film score and edited a music magazine. He currently writes the popular music blog www.letskeepitbetweenus.com

Lachlan is currently in the studio with 2009 & 2010 producer of the year Rod McCormack, completing work on his debut solo album with an all-star band including Hamish Stuart, Garry Steel, Glenn Hannah and Jeff McCormack. There’s also guest appearances from Kasey Chambers, Bill Chambers, Catherine Britt and Kaylah Anne.

Upon the album’s release, Lachlan will continue to collaborate with Emmy-Award winner

Sean Genders to create their now signature cinematic music videos. Shaun and Mat from The Wildes will join Lachlan to tour and promote the record.

Tours, festivals and new records…

If you’ve been out and about over the past two months you’ve probably run into us at a gig or a festival…we’ve been on the road a little. We had a great time at The Gumball, The Apollo Bay Music Festival, a strange Hippie event somewhere in NSW and of course a number of pubs and clubs across the east coast. Now it’s time to settle down and make a new record…if you want to keep updated on it’s progress then please join our mailing list on the right of the screen.

On the road…

We’re very excited to be getting in the van again, this time to promote the free Unfortunate Rose EP across the South East of Australia. This is going to be a bit of a special run as we showcase a whole lot of new and old tunes in new and interesting ways. We’re also particularly excited about the other acts that we’ll be sharing the stage with this time round, from The Feral Swing Cats and Jeremy Edwards and his Dust Radio Band in NSW to Melbourne’s own Chris Altmann (of The Vandas) who will join us for several of our shows (he’ll often have his outstanding Que Paso band along for the ride too).

Of course, this tour also takes in The Apollo Bay Festival (where we’ll join acts such as Washington, Rosie Flores and Angie Hart) and The Gumball festival (where you can also catch Custom Kings, Lanie Lane and many others).

You can see all the dates here on our shows page.

The Wildes can read and write…

And to prove it we’ve written a blog entry. Well, at least one of us has. The others all proof-read it – so if there are any mistakes you can blame them. It’s a post about our visit to Tamworth for the 2011 festival, just a few days ago. The photos are courtesy of Simon Imrei, who joined us on lead guitar for the trip. Keen observers will note that Simon actually played keyboards on the Ballad of a Young Married Man album. He’s a clever fellow.

The Wildes in Tamworth for the TCMF

We’re playing just one show in Tamworth (though you might see us make some sneaky appearances around the place). Thanks to the generosity of the venue we’re able to make it free entry. Come see us this coming Saturday at 3pm.

If you’re not at the festival this year, sign up to our mailing list for further gig updates… We’ll let you know when we’re coming to your home town (or at the very least somewhere nearby)…

Apollo Bay 2011

We’re pleased to announce that we shall be appearing at the Apollo Bay Music Festival in 2011. Earlybird tickets are $134 and available here. We will also soon be announcing our schedule for Tamworth 2011. Stay tuned to this site for updates or better still, join our mailing list in the right hand tab of this page.

Emmy Award Celebrations

We would like to congratulate our great friend and collaborator Sean Genders on his Emmy for The Pacific. We’re so pleased to see the hard work and creativity of he and his colleagues rewarded in such glamourous fashion. Keep your eyes out for our latest project with Sean – the video clip for the track Nothing – this will be the final video from our debut album…we think…
